Barbara Gray & Elvis Presley , The Kiss.

..........................

One thing is clear: she never wanted fame. The mysterious blonde with tongue tongue appears a very young Elvis Presley in one of his most iconic images has waited 55 years to get out of their anonymity. Barbara Gray posed casually with the singer in June 1956, when he was 21, and just before he left the stage to perform in front of 3,000 people in Virginia.

........................

........................
"I was very thin and very busty," recalls Gray, now a retired real estate manager, 75, who decided to unmask his identity for Vanity Fair. The kiss, as the image is known, is the most famous of a series with which the photographer Alfred Wertheimer Elvis immortalized early in his youth.

.........................

...........................

Despite the eroticism of the picture, Gray said he had no intention of going beyond that kiss with the singer. "Maybe he felt spark, but I did not even know who he was," he says. "It was a very funny guy. We were running and playing with each other and just behaving as children we were. He chased me down the hall and asked me to accompany him to the program from Steve Allen. But I said no, I going to Philadelphia to see my boyfriend. Thus began his challenge. "

.........................

...........................

But the king of rock did not accept the refusal. Blinded as he was with the beauty of this unknown, tried to persuade the most insistent. "I hugged and caressed and finally I let him kiss me," says Gray. "I do not know how, but just lying in bed and tried to touch me." But before anything happened, knock on the door to say he was leaving the train in which she was traveling.
.......................

.........................

"I became the woman who said no to Elvis," he recalls. "That's what I am." Gray never saw the singer, but she is sure he received a Christmas card from his years later. When the picture began to be sold, she renounced all their rights. "I did not get into this and become mad and frustrated ... Even though I wished that my name appeared in the damn picture."
...........................

..........................

So last year, when Barbara Gray saw in the newspaper a photo exhibition at the Smithsonian Wertheimer with the picture where she appeared, turned on his computer, found the photographer's page on Facebook and sent a message: "I am the the girl kiss. I have given you a good story ... Please, answer this e-mail ".
